Know Your Rights: Ensuring Fair Treatment for GSAs and the Students Who Lead Them
Saturday, October 24 2009, 11:00am - 12:00pm

Presenter - Jeanne LoCicero, Deputy Legal Director, American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey

Both state and federal laws protect the rights of students to participate in Gay Straight Alliances. This workshop will explain how the right to free expression and the laws preventing discrimination require school districts to treat GSAs fairly.  The session will also give an overview of how New Jersey's Law Against Discrimination protects students from discrimination and how you can get help if you believe your rights have been violated.
